FOR HIRE: Shop Assistant - Screens & Ink

About Us SMPLFD Printing Co is a Detroit-based screen printing, embroidery, and graphic design shop that's been delivering quality custom apparel since 2004. We work with everyone from local artists to nationwide brands.

The Job We're looking for a Shop Assistant to support our screen printing operation. This role covers screen prep, ink management, and general press support -and no two days look exactly the same.

On any given day you might be burning screens, reclaiming them, mixing or pulling inks, breaking down a job after a press run, or jumping in to assist on press when the team needs an extra set of hands. The work shifts based on what's moving through the shop, and we need someone who can move with it.

This is a hands-on, physical job. You'll work with chemicals and inks, wear protective gear, and spend a good amount of time on your feet. What You'll Be Doing

• Coating, burning, and reclaiming screens
• Keeping the screen room organized and stocked
• Managing ink - pulling, mixing, returning, and keeping things clean
• Assisting with press setup, breakdown, and on-press support
• Helping with garment check-in and general shop flow as needed

• Adaptable - you can reprioritize without losing focus
• Detail-oriented - screens and ink prep done wrong shows up on the shirt
• Self-directed - you don't need someone looking over your shoulder
• Reliable and on time, every time
• No prior experience required; everything you need to know is teachable

The Details

• Part-time to full-time potential (16+ hours/week)
• Shop hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm (some weekends during busy season)
• Pay: $15-18/hr depending on experience
