FOR HIRE: New Business Development Sales Rep
SMPLFD Printing is looking for a driven sales rep to bring fresh business to our Detroit-based screen printing, embroidery, and graphic design shop. We've been in the game since 2004, working with everyone from local artists to national brands.
This role is all about finding new clients who need our creative services - not managing existing accounts. If you get a rush from landing new business and building relationships from scratch, this could be your spot.
What You'll Do:
Find New Business
- Hunt for opportunities through social media, targeted searches, cold calls, and in-person visits
- Develop your own mix of digital and face-to-face prospecting that plays to your strengths
- Focus purely on bringing in new clients (we handle account management separately)
- Research potential clients to create personalized approaches
- Hit new business targets and build your commission
- Represent SMPLFD at events where potential clients might be
Close Deals
- Run discovery conversations that uncover what clients actually need
- Create presentations that show how SMPLFD can solve their problems
- Guide prospects from first meeting to signed deal
- Communicate new client specs clearly to our production team
- Track your sales process in Printavo
- Hand off new clients to account management after closing
Keep Things Moving
- Document your sales activities and wins
- Share updates on your pipeline so we can plan ahead
- Stay current on printing trends and what competitors are doing
- Collaborate with our team to make sure transitions go smoothly
- Help shape pricing approaches that work for clients and SMPLFD
What You Need:
Must-Have Skills
- Proven success in actually landing new business
- Natural drive to prospect and find opportunities
- Comfort with both digital (social/search) and traditional (calls/visits) outreach
- Ability to work on 100% commission initially (because you're confident in your skills)
- Strong communication that connects with people
- Resilience to keep pushing through rejection
- Driver's license and reliable transportation
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience in printing, apparel, or creative industries
- Basic knowledge of what screen printing and embroidery involve
- Existing network in relevant industries
- Experience with CRM systems
- Appreciation for SMPLFD's aesthetic and approach
