About Us SMPLFD Printing Co. is a Detroit-based screen printing, embroidery, and graphic design shop that's been producing custom apparel for clients ranging from local brands to national names since 2004. We run a tight, quality-first operation across multiple production disciplines - and we take every one of them seriously.

The Role We're looking for a Production Specialist to join our growing production team. This is a dynamic, hands-on role built for someone who knows embroidery well and isn't afraid to flex into other parts of the shop when needed. You'll spend the majority of your time supporting our embroidery department - operating Tajima machines, maintaining quality, and keeping jobs moving - but you'll also be cross-trained in heat press and quality control, and will be expected to contribute across departments as production demands shift.

This role is a real opportunity for someone who wants to grow with a shop that's actively expanding. We're investing in more embroidery capacity, and the right person here has a clear path to grow with the department.

What You'll Be Doing

Embroidery (Primary - approx. 60%)

• Operating Tajima multi-head embroidery machines for production runs across a wide range of garments and headwear
• Setting up jobs - loading designs, selecting thread, hooping, aligning, and prepping materials
• Monitoring runs in progress and catching issues before they become problems
• Troubleshooting thread breaks, tension issues, needle alignment, and machine errors
• Performing routine machine maintenance - oiling, cleaning, basic upkeep
• Inspecting finished embroidery for retail-quality output before it moves forward
• Tracking active jobs and updating statuses in Monday.com and Printavo

Shop Support (Secondary - approx. 40%)

• Operating heat press equipment for finishing and decoration runs - full training provided
• Supporting quality control - inspecting finished goods across departments against order specs before fulfillment
• Assisting in screen printing production as needed - training provided for the right candidate
• Flexing to where production needs you on any given day - this shop moves fast and we need people who move with it

What We're Looking For

• 2+ years of hands-on commercial embroidery experience - Tajima experience strongly preferred
• Solid understanding of fabrics, backings, thread types, and how they interact
• Ability to read and load DST/EMB design files; digitizing experience is a plus
• Retail-quality mindset - you take pride in the finished product and it shows
• Adaptable and production-minded - you're comfortable shifting priorities and supporting wherever the shop needs you
• Organized and self-managed - you track your own work and flag problems early
• Someone looking to grow, not just clock in

• Full-time, in-shop - 2905 Beaufait St., Detroit, MI
• Reports to Production Manager
• Pay: $18-22/hr depending on experience
